Kashubia for cheese lovers

Kashubia is a paradise for gourmet country cheeses. Made locally, from their own non-industrial cows and goats, they have no equal in all of Poland. We recommend to you two places to which lovers of good food make their pilgrimage. No cheese from the store will taste the same after visiting them!

Kaszubska Koza farm – Robaczkowo village, house number 4

The secluded farm under the forest, far from the asphalt road (but easily accessible by car) was established six years ago by Tomasz and Honorata, a married couple tired of soulless work in corporations. It sometimes takes six hours to manually milk one of the farm’s 70 goats, and the cheeses ripen for months under home conditions. There is no point in describing the effects – these cheeses simply have to be tasted! Restaurateurs from all over the country are killing for them, but they taste best bought on the spot, straight from the hosts. At one pole you will find “goat pipe,” a delicate roll that breaks the stereotype of goat cheese flavor being too intense for some. At the other – “drunken goat,” a cheese fermented partially in red wine. And in between, a whole range of cheese delicacies that connoisseurs not only in Poland have already heard about!

Wspólnota Burego Misia – village of Nowy Klincz, ul. Osadowa 7

Wspólnota Burego Misia is a Christian organization dedicated to caring for people with disabilities. The people in care live in several settlements, one of which is located in Kashubia, near the town of Kościerzyna. There you can buy one of the insane-tasting homemade cow cheeses with Kashubian names: delicate “Frisztikowe” (i.e. breakfast) cheeses with nigella, sunflower or nuts, smoked, or longer-ripened, hard Dutch-type cheeses.
