Silesian Beskids

Silesian Beskids

About the Region

Mountain biking and road racing lovers will fall in love with this area.

Was kann man hier unternehmen?

Istebna is the southernmost village in the historic region of Upper Silesia.

An unusual borderland where Polish, German and Czech cultures met.

A trip to the town of Cieszyn, separated in half by the Polish-Czech border on the Olza River, will be a very pleasant experience for you.

Further north from Cieszyn, the landscape changes dramatically as we approach the industrial part of Upper Silesia. The region was built on massive coal deposits, and its landscape is still marked by distinctive mine shafts.

Magda and Neil recommendations

Magda and Neil’s first visit to Istebna was because of an MTB bicycle marathon, in which Neil participated. He – a native Scot from Edinburgh, she – a girl from a small village in eastern Poland.

His passion for cycling and her love of nature met in a small mountain village at the junction of Poland, the Czech Republic and Slovakia.
