Sudetes and Izera Mountains. Magic for connoisseurs

Sudetes and Izera Mountains. Magic for connoisseurs

When Łukasz and Piotr started looking for a house for a boutique guesthouse, like most Poles - and almost the whole world - they had no idea of the existence of the Izera Mountains.

The building of the old Protestant school from 1913 in Kwieciszowice bought their hearts with its history, many original elements, a hectare of garden overlooking the Kaczawskie Mountains, sometimes called the “Land of Extinct Volcanoes” and thousands of stars sparkling in the sky at night. “When we first came here five years ago, we could not believe that such places still existed,” they recount.

Łukasz and Piotr left their previous developmental and very well-paid jobs in Warsaw and focused all their energies on transforming a historic building into a beautiful, intimate guest house with soul.

“We know how exhausting it can be these days to work at a tremendous pace, chasing unattainable results, and often simply empty in its content,” they say.

They wanted to create a place where they would have time for themselves and guests, and guests would have time for themselves, their families, partners, friends, pets. One in which the man and his loved ones are the center of attention. The dice were cast on Halloween in 2017, when they signed a contract to buy the former school. That is how KWIECI came into being.

Time at Łukasz and Piotr's guesthouse is getting warped.

In a large, 60-square-meter classroom converted into a cozy living room, you can lie by the fireplace, read books from the home library or casually chat with other guests about what they did today and where they were

The community of subjects reveals itself – after all, like us, they came to KWIECI in search of peace, human kindness, places run with taste and flavor. Kids have their own kingdom in the attic with games, caches and secret nooks and crannies, and in the summer – a huge wicker hut in the garden, where there is an endless feast of the forest.

Łukasz and Piotr's great passion is design.

Many of the gems that please the eyes in the living room or rooms of the guesthouse they found at fairs in the area, including the popular flea market in Jelenia Góra, and then renovated at their own expense. At the same time, the original vintage-style furniture is broken by more modern elements – copper, granite tables or chandeliers made of “Maria” test tubes (designed in honor of the great Polish chemist, Maria Skłodowska-Curie), so that the interior has a distinctive “Berlin” atmosphere.

No less effort is made by the hosts to provide guests with healthy, home-cooked, slow-food style meals.

Many products come directly from friendly neighbors – “we get organic buckwheat groats from Renata and Sławek from Kwieciszowice, goat cheeses from Łomnica, we obtain honey from local apiaries,” Łukasz enumerates.

A hit among guests turned out to be some of the dishes prepared in cooperation with a friendly chef from Warsaw.

At the forefront is the cabbage omelet, which appears in at least a few reviews of the stay at KWIECI. “We serve guests white cabbage steak on emmer groats, yeast pampuchy with beef cheeks, and for dessert you can try at our place, for example, grapes with roasted red pepper mousse with roasted almond flakes or homemade jelly with sweet dust of roasted flaxseed,” he adds
