For many, it is a must-visit vacation spot and Europe’s favorite music festival.
Open’er Festival in Gdynia is a celebration of contemporary music and a great idea to enrich a weekend spent in the Tri-City – a conglomerate of three coastal cities in Poland, with Gdańsk in the lead.
Open’er Festival is held every year in early July on the grounds of the disused airport in Gdynia – Babie Doły, in close proximity to the Baltic Sea. Over the course of more than a dozen years, the event has hosted such music giants as Coldplay, Florence and the Machine, Beastie Boys, Björk, Pearl Jam, The White Stripes, Franz Ferdinand and The Black Keys. In the record-breaking year of 2018, 140,000 people attended the festival before the coronavirus pandemic.
Convenient access from Gdańsk to the festival is provided by SKM trains to Gdynia and buses, but you can also try overnight camping. From the festival site on the tarmac to the beach at Babie Doły is approximately 20 minutes on foot.
In 2023, the festival will be held from June 28 to July 1.
