We will be honest – with the Alps under our noses, it is hard to imagine coming to ski in Poland. But coming to the Sudetes in winter, you might get the urge to ski a day or two on the local slopes. If this happens, you will be pleasantly surprised! The ski infrastructure of the Kłodzko Land is doing really well.
Zieleniec
The Zieleniec Ski Center is the largest facility of its kind in the Kłodzko Land and one of the largest in the Sudetes. It lies in the rarely visited Orlickie Mountains, in close proximity to the spa town of Duszniki-Zdrój and the arctic tundra-like Zieleniec Peat Bog. There is a peculiarly cool microclimate here, and snow does not melt here longer than elsewhere in the Polish mountains – nearly 150 days a year.
The northern slopes of Zieleniec are great ski areas. There are 28 lifts and 10 lighted trails of varying difficulty. The slopes and lifts are arranged in such a way that skiers and snowboarders are able to go from one end of Zieleniec to the other and back without taking their skis or boards off their feet. For freestyle skiers or snowboarders, Zieleniec offers a snowpark and a full-size halfpipe.
Czarna Góra
In the small village of Sienna at the foot of Czarna Góra (1205 meters above sea level), near Śnieżnik, there is one of the most modern ski resorts in Poland. The total length of the ski slopes in the Czarna Góra resort is 10 kilometers. Nine trails of varying lengths are in operation here – from the 1,600-meter-long and 380-meter-high difference in elevation black route No. A, to four moderately difficult B, C and D pistes of about 1,000 meters, to three small slopes for beginner skiers and snowboarders. Three pistes at the resort are FIS-approved.
Communication between the routes is provided by two forest connectors. You can easily rent skis on site, and if you like the pistes so much that you decide to stay a day longer – stay overnight at the luxurious Aparthotel Czarna Góra right next to the complex.
