One of the most beautiful attractions of the Lower Silesia region are its old, post-German palaces. Neglected during the communist period, in recent years they are slowly regaining their former splendor. A great example of the restoration of an old Silesian mansion is the Palace in Wojanów. Under the treaties ending World War II, the inhabitants of Lower Silesia were displaced to Germany, and the area was annexed to Poland. The new population, coming from the central part of the country or its former eastern provinces annexed to the Soviet Union, found themselves in unknown lands and lived in uncertainty for a long time. Is there any point in putting down roots here? And what if the old border is someday restored?

Abandoned by their old owners, the palaces were deteriorating.

In central Poland, many noble residences with closer ties to Polish culture were waiting to be restored, while unique monuments in the west of the country had long sought their new functions. In recent years, however, the situation has changed dramatically – modern generations are rediscovering Silesia, restoring with great effort the splendor of many buildings. It is important to remember that taking care of an old palace is often a lifelong task!

The area of Jelenia Góra is particularly rich in old castles and palaces. The kings of Prussia had their residences here, and the secluded valley near the Karkonosze was called the Valley of Palaces and Gardens. When you visit the Palace in Wojanów, you will see with your own eyes how history comes full circle and the extraordinary past brings the present to life. The beautiful neo-Gothic building, located in a park by a pond, has changed owners over the years, but owes especially much to its current owners. Walking through the adjacent gardens, you will feel like you are in the famous land of châteaux on the Loire, or else!
